It’s been an eventful year in world politics. The year 2015 was marked by rising tensions between Russia and the West over Ukraine, the war in Syria, terrorist attacks in Middle East and in Paris, which also hosted the historic climate change summit amid a state of emergency.

Despite growing political tensions elsewhere in the world, 2015 was a year of cooperation in the Arctic, says Prof Michael Byers. He is Canada Research Chair in Global Politics and International Law at the University of British Columbia and an expert on Arctic policy.

Christmas is a time of tradition and traditions. Some fall by the wayside over the years, others stand the test of time. And Terry Haig is trying to single-handedly revive a tradition that existed when RCI was still broadcasting on shortwave radio.

One of Canada’s foremost actors, David Calderisi, joined us for a number of years to share his passion for the rythm and meaning of words, both in prose and poetry.

Terry rekindled that tradition last year. And he followed up this year.

Now for a different take on Christmas and the man who makes it all happen – Santa Claus.

Terry asked his friend Michael Rudder, one of the best voice actors in Canada, perhaps, even one of the best actors in Canada period, to find something to read.

He came up with something just a bit different. It’s a piece by the American writer Spencer Holst and was first published in 1971.
You’d have to stretch your imagination a bit but try to imagine what would happen to our world if Santa Claus were to suddenly depart (be dispatched would be the more accurate description in this case) and his place were taken by Mrs Claus?
