The late Ken Danby’s artistic ability was huge. A new coffee-table sized book has just been published; a sort of autobiography on his life and work.
The book published by Goose Lane Editions is simply magnificent and for art lovers, a book you’d want in your collection.
A contemporary realist, he was eclectic in his work, from old barns and landscapes, to lakeshores, domestic scenes, horses, vehicles, sailboats, to well-known personalities, and being Canadian, the occasional hockey-themed work.
There is a serenity to all of his paintings. In this hustle and bustle world, his work, (which is in galleries and private collections around the world) makes you want to pause and reflect upon it.
Ihor Holubizky, adjunct professor at McMaster University and senior curator at the McMaster Museum of Art, helped curate the book.
